Water security, energy security, food security and the health and sustainability of the planet’s ecosystems are deeply connected in the face of increased climate risks. That’s why an approach, like the WEFE Nexus approach, that emphasises interlinkages for planning and adaptation processes is so relevant.
But it has its challenges. How will it work in practice? How can we develop governance and implementation structures to deliver the nexus approach without adding further complexity and opening up accountability gaps? How can we avoid maladaptation or capture by special interests, and instead strengthen effectiveness and sustainability?
In this Integrity Talk, we will discuss the concept and practicalities of the Water Energy Food Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus approach and the ways integrity can build strong foundations for cross-sector partnerships that contribute to water resilience.
