In human geography, Dr. Elisabeth Kirndörfer (Prof. Hörschelmann's Cultural Geography research group) won with her article “Challenging the boundaries of exclusive Europeanization: How young refugees and asylum seekers unsettle normative spaces of urban citizenship” published in “European Urban and Regional Studies” (https://doi.org/10.1177/09697764231205223) and Douwe van Schie (Prof. Schipper's Development Geography research group) with his publication “Valuing a values-based approach for assessing loss and damage” in “Climate and Development” (https://doi.org/10.1080/17565529.2023.2289533). Their articles were judged equally according to the award criteria.
The two papers by Dr. Adrian Almoradie and Ikam Zangana from Physical Geography also received the same number of points. Dr. Adrian Almoradie (Prof. Evers' Ecohydrology and Water Resources Management research group) received the prize for the article “Transboundary Collaborative Modeling: Consensual Identification and Ranking of Flood Adaptation Measures - A Case Study in the Mono River Basin, Benin, and Togo” published in “Sustainability” (https://doi.org/10.3390/su151511728). Ikram Zangana (Geomorphology and Environmental Systems research group of Prof. Schrott) was awarded for the article “Efficient geomorphological mapping based on geographic information systems and remote sensing data” in “Journal of Maps” (https://doi.org/10.1080/17445647.2023.2172468).
