Prof. Dr. Eva Nöthen leitet ab dem kommenden Sommersemester die Arbeitsgruppe Didaktik der Geographie. Vor ihrem Wechsel an die Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn war sie als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin im Arbeitsbereich „Didaktik der Geographie“ an der Goethe-Universität in Frankfurt am Main tätig und hat die W2-Professur „Didaktik der Geographie“ an der Martin-Luther-Universität in Halle-Wittenberg vertreten.
Eva Nöthen studierte Bildende Kunst an der Staatlichen Akademie der Bildende Künste in Karlsruhe und Geographie an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. Vor ihrer Rückkehr an die Universität war sie drei Jahre als Studienrätin für die Fächer Bildende Kunst und Geographie an einem Gymnasium in Baden-Baden tätig. Ihre Dissertation trägt den Titel „Spiegelbilder des Klimawandels. Zur Analyse von Bildern als kommunikative Medien im Kontext umweltbezogener Bildungsprozesse“. Neben ihren Tätigkeiten als Studienrätin und wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin war sie an der Erstellung zahlreicher Schulbücher, Lexikonbeiträge und Unterrichtsmaterialien beteiligt.
Ihre Forschung und Lehre richtet Eva Nöthen im Sinne einer transformativen geographischen Bildung an aktuellen Fragen des Faches Geographie und deren gelingender Vermittlung aus. Konkrete Forschungsinteressen und Forschungsschwerpunkte erstrecken sich dabei über drei Bereiche: nachhaltige Entwicklung und Umweltbildung, Visualität und Medienbildung sowie künstlerische Forschung und ästhetische Bildung. Im Fokus steht die Verbindung von Fachinhalten und Fachdidaktik. So können Perspektiven des Fachs Geographie zum Ausgangspunkt didaktischer Reflexion werden.

Prof. Eva Nöthen will head the Geography Education research group from the coming summer semester. Before moving to the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn, Prof. Nöthen worked as a research assistant in the department "Didactics of Geography" at the Goethe-University in Frankfurt a.M. and represented the W2 professorship "Didactics of Geography" at the Martin-Luther-University in Halle-Wittenberg.
Prof. Nöthen studied fine arts at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe and geography at the Humboldt-University in Berlin. Before returning to the university, she worked for three years as a teacher of fine arts and geography at a high school in Baden-Baden. She wrote her doctoral thesis on the topic " Spiegelbilder des Klimawandels. Zur Analyse von Bildern als kommunikativen Medien im Kontext umweltbezogener Bildungsprozesse (Reflections of climate change. On the analysis of images as communicative media in the context of environmental education processes)". In addition to her activities as a teacher and research assistant, she has been involved in the production of numerous textbooks, encyclopedia articles and teaching materials.
Prof. Nöthen focuses her research and teaching on current issues in geography and their successful communication in the sense of transformative geographic education. Her specific research interests and research foci span three areas: Sustainable Development and Environmental Education, Visuality and Media Education, and Artistic Research and Aesthetic Education. The focus is on linking subject knowledge and subject didactics. In this way, perspectives of the subject of Geography can become the starting point for didactic reflection.
