At the Department of Geography, we have produced two image films financed by ERASMUS special funds with the aim of motivating students from abroad to study at the Department of Geography at the University of Bonn. The University of Bonn is interested in increasing the number of incoming students, as there is a large imbalance between outgoing and incoming students in the ERASMUS program. This is also the case at the GIUB.
Many international students hesitate to come to Germany because they don't speak German - but at GIUB we offer a wide range of exciting geography couses taught in English, so it is possible to study even if you don't speak German. In addition, Bonn is unknown to many foreign students or the city is perceived as small and boring. We want to prove the opposite in our films: We show the great atmosphere and the many opportunities that studying in Bonn offers. Former ERASMUS incomings have their say and share their experiences to inspire potential students. Our films are not only a look at the academic offer, but also show many other aspects that are important to ERASMUS students when choosing a place to study, such as support services, leisure activities and nightlife. The films were produced under the direction of Dr. Simone Giertz, Coordinator for International Affairs at the Institute, and GIUB Master's student Adrian van Oosten.
