Dennis Schüpf
PhD Candidate
In my current PhD research, I am investigating the social entanglements with coastal sand resources and their implications for coastal adaptation to climate and environmental change. In particular, I use qualitative methods to unravel the power dynamics in contested coastal spaces that shape the outcomes of (mal)adaptation and the making of coastal protection. Recent fieldwork has therefore focused on different actors at multiple levels, but with an emphasis on the role of artisanal and small-scale fishing communities whose livelihoods depend on access to sand.
