Examination Office Geography

Here you´ll find the contact persons and responsibilities of the examination office. Infomation  about the examination board, recognition of external achievements, the Transcript of records and BAFöG extention requests can be found here aswell.

Please note

If you have any general inquiries about your studies at the Department of Geography, please contact the departmental Study Advisory and Counseling Service in the first instance.
Please contact the Examination Office directly if you have any questions or problems relating to examination registration.

Don’t forget to indicate your degree program and student ID number whenever you make an inquiry.


Responsibilities of the Examination Office:

  • Registration (bachelor’s and master’s degree programs)
  • Recording grades and study achievements (including recognizing Erasmus achievements, changing universities, transfers)
  • Recognition for external achievements (from abroad and other subjects outside the University of Bonn)
  • Taking receipt of medical certificates from students unable to take examinations due to illness
  • Helping students experiencing problems registering for examinations in BASIS
  • Registration and taking receipt of bachelor’s and master’s theses, including providing access to references and reviews
  • Clarifying ToR accounts and documentation on the completion of a degree program (certificates, Diploma Supplements, diplomas)
  • Certifications (including for BAFöG)

Opening hours

  • Monday to Friday

    9:00 am - 12:00 pm (without appointment) and by appointment

The office will be closed from December 23. 2024 to January 03. 2025.

Final theses must be sent by post to the examination office during this period!

Messages for the Examination Office can also be posted in the mailbox outside Room 103.

Submitting bachelor's and master’s theses

Please arrange an appointment in order to submit your thesis in person to Examination Office. Alternatively, you can also send your thesis via post mail, then hand in your thesis at the post office on your due date at the latest!Please do not post your master’s thesis in the Examination Office mailbox.

Examination boards and requests

You can find everything you need to know about the examination boards and making a request here. An examination board regulates all issues concering the degree programs.

NaLa Examination Office

Here you can find out who to contact at the Examination Office for the Nature Conservation and Landscape Ecology (NaLa) M.Sc.

BZL Examination Office

Here you can find out who to contact if you are studying geography as part of a bachelor’s teaching degree or Master of Education.

Transcipt of Records (ToR)

You can create and print off your transcript yourself from your Transcript of Records (ToR) by logging into BASIS. You can download it in german and english. 

BAFöG extension request

You can contact the examination office if you have any questions about BAFöG. The Examination Office is also responsible for issuing and signing certifications for you.

Securing recognition for examinations passed externally

If you have already completed another degree program or studied at a different university, you can gain recognition for modules that you have passed. You can also have modules from the partner universities in the ABC/J alliance or other departments of the University of Bonn recognized too

Applicants for higher semesters/cross-entry

Would you like to transfer between the geography degree programs offered at the University of Bonn and be accepted into a higher semester? Or are you studying Geography at another university and would like to transfer to Bonn?
